31 year old Travis Kauffman was running on a Colorado mountain trail on February 4th when he was surprise attacked by a Lion.
Kauffman re-lived the horrific battle in a press conference with Colorado Parks and Wildlife Officials on Thursday and revealed his injuries.
He says the lion locked its jaws on his wrist and was clawing his face and arms during the attack in the mountains west of Fort Collins
Kauffman used his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training to use his weight in the guard position and wrestled the animal to the ground and jammed his foot onto its neck to suffocate it to death.
He suffered lacerations and scratches to his face, neck, arms, and legs and he required about 20 stitches to recover and some scars are still visible.
He revealed he went into ‘fight mode’ and that “My Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Training saved my life” in a video interview released Thursday. Check it out:
